TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 14: Public circles from three towns have called upon Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad to grant three stoppages at Shorkot Cantonment, Toba Tek Singh and Gojra for four trains being diverted from Khanewal-Sahiwal-Lahore track to Khanewal-Shorkot-Toba-Faisalabad-Lahore with effect from Sunday (today).

They said that trains running between Lahore and Karachi include Buraq Express, Korakoram Express, Sindh Express and Karachi Express.

Commuters claimed that if stoppages were not sanctioned, the diversion on this track would give no benefit to them and instead they would have to suffer in the shape of extraordinary delay in the arrival and departure of other trains as priority would definitely be given to these four express trains.

In addition, they said that dozens of level-crossing gates in their areas would remain closed for hours every day for the passage of diverted trains.

A railway official informed that these four trains would use this track for the next six months as the track from Raiwind to Khanewal was being doubled.
