NOWSHERA, Oct 14: Armed men shot one man dead and abducted his brother from Uch Hunar road in Jalozai on Saturday.

Wajid Ali Khan and his brother Amanullah Khan were on their way to Daag Besood in a car. When they reached Cherat road, they were intercepted by armed men and dragged out of their car.

While the armed men were trying to stuff the two brothers into their pick-up, one of them, Amanullah, resisted. At this, the armed men shot him dead and drove away with Wajid.

A case has been registered with Urmar police station.

Meanwhile, Nazim of UC Daag Besood Haji Noor Dil Khan, who is the uncle of the two brothers, convened an emergency meeting of union nazims.

The meeting demanded of the government to ensure safe release of Wajid and immediate arrest of the kidnappers.

The nazims expressed anger over the growing incidents of kidnapping for ransom in the area. They said Wajid had been taken towards the Shamshatoo refugee camp area.

A meeting of the Khattak Qaumi Jirga was also convened to chalk out a future line of action against kidnappers.
