LAHORE, May 1: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi ordered on Sunday action against Qila Gujjar Singh SHO for allegedly torturing an ASI without any reason. The action has been ordered on an application filed by ASI Shabbir Ahmad. According to the application, the ASI and his brother-in-law had gone to the police station for personal reasons and tried to convey their problem to SHO Raheel Amjad. But instead of listening to him, the SHO tried to leave the police station in his vehicle. At this, the ASI tried to make his point, but the SHO became furious and started thrashing the ASI. The injured ASI was later detained in a room of the police station and was released on the intervention of a journalist.

The contention of the ASI later proved correct when an inquiry was conducted on the orders of the chief minister and another by the SSP (discipline and inspection). As a result, the chief minister ordered the DPO to immediately take punitive action against the SHO.
