SUKKUR, May 1: Members of the Sukkur District Council on Saturday held a demonstration outside the council hall, demanding suspension of the EDO, finance, for not attending meetings of the council despite requests.

District Naib Nazim Iqbal Dawood Pakwala led the demonstration.

He said the members would complain to higher authorities concerned against the EDO.

Earlier, a meeting of the district council adopted a resolution against arrangements to include Bagarji, Tamachani and some other dehs of Sukkur in the Shikarpur district. It said a strong protest would be launched if it was done.

The members also expressed its displeasure over District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah’s absence from the meeting.

The naib nazim assured the members that the nazim would attend the meeting on Monday.

Meanwhile, answering questions at the council session, DPO Abdullah Shaikh said prize bond chits’ system would not be allowed in the city.

He said action against drug dens and criminals was being taken and added that he would raid police stations to ensure that no innocent person was locked up.

ATTENDANCE: The DCO has directed supervisors of elementary education to check teacher’s attendance and monitor utilization of School Management Committee funds.

DCO Shafiq Ahmad Khoso held a meeting with the supervisors at his office here on Saturday.
