KHAIRPUR, April 26: Activists of the Citizen Ittehad and Jagarta Forum took out a procession here on Tuesday against unannounced load-shedding of electricity in 20 mohallas of Khairpur town. The protesters said that the electricity remained suspended for about six to seven hours without any reason on Monday, badly affecting business, schools and normal life.
The areas worst-effected included Garhi Pul, Unnar Colony, Talpur Colony, Butro, Abid Colony, Sirai Ganwar Khan and Lohi Pul.
The residents of Khanpur town and its surrounding villages told newsmen that despite assurances given by Hesco officials to people, electricity remained suspended for about 10 hours daily.
ANT-POLIO drive: The three-day anti-polio campaign began here on Tuesday.
Doctors and staff of the city hospital, Khairpur, took out a rally, which started from Chatti Chowk and ended at the city hospital. To create awareness about Polio, a motorbike rally was also taken out on Tuesday from Thari Mirwah to Sui Gas.
