Demonstration against landlord

NAWABSHAH, April 26: Residents of the Dorai Mahar village held a protest demonstration and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Monday against a landlord and the taluka police. The protesters, led by Mohammad Idrees Mahar, Dadan Mahar, Noorullah Mahar and Abdullah Mahar, were carrying banners and placards and raising slogans against police.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that to expel them from the village, landlord Mohibullah Shah had brought armed men and the taluka police who had allegedly misbehaved with women and threatened them with dire consequences.

They said police left their village after they approached Sardar Ali Gohar Khan Mahar, who spoke to the Nawabshah DPO.

They said they had been living in the village for years.

They demanded that authorities should suspend the taluka police station SHO and register an FIR against the landlord for misbehaving with women and issuing threats.

ROOF COLLAPSES: Two people were injured when the roof of their house collapsed in Golimar as a heavy dust storm hit the area on Sunday.

The injured, Sehrish and Abdul Hafeez, were taken to the People’s Medical College Hospital.

Dozens of trees and electricity wires fell in different localities which caused suspension of power supply to most of the areas of the town.
