PESHAWAR, April 26: Hailing the efforts of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) in rendering quality services in education and health sector, district Nazim Mohammad Sharif Khattak on Tuesday said that for the first time Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated in district Karak.

Speaking at the inter-schools Naat competition to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi the district Nazim said that without following the golden principles of Islam, people would not be able to achieve any remarkable success in terms of human development. He said that the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a role model for everyone and by following it, people will not only achieve success in the world but will also succeed in life after death.

Explaining the ongoing efforts of the NCHD in education, health and adult literacy, Khattak said that the district has achieved remarkable success in uplifting their literacy rate from 63 per cent to 90 per cent. The school enrolment has also been raised from 60 per cent to almost 95 per cent, he said.

A number of elected representatives, acting DCO Hashim Khan, EDO Education, Mohammad Rafiq Khan, EDO Social Welfare Shah Zaman, district Aamir of JUI (F) Maulana Shehzad Gul, Maulana Noor Sahib Gul and a large number of students from different schools also attended the ceremony.

Account holders: Account-holders of the Prudential Investment Bank have appealed to the president and the prime minister to help them get their money back. In a joint statement the affected account holders, majority of whom belong to the NWFP, said that the bank management had neither paid the principal amount nor profit.

They said that the management had told them that the owner of the bank had fled the country and the case was being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The account holders complained that the State Bank of Pakistan and the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan had so far failed to help them get their money.
