KARACHI, April 26: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is sending a high-level trade delegation to Pakistan from May 23-28, 2005. FICCI President Onkar S. Kanwar, leading the delegation comprising businessmen and industrialists, will visit Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

The visit of the FICCI delegation is being considered an immediate follow-up action of the discussions held between President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to promote socio-economic relations.

The purpose of the visit is to promote trade and economic relations and intensify interaction between businessmen of the two countries. Both the national chambers expect that the visit will open new avenues for the promotion of bilateral trade and accelerate the process of building up economic relations between the two countries, says a press release of the Federation of FPCCI.

The FPCCI is coordinating the visit. It is also organizing a conference on India-Pakistan economic relations on May 24, followed by one to one business meetings at Karachi. Registration process for one to one business meetings is underway in the FPCCI.
