The Umerkot police have registered a case against the bus driver who escaped after the accident, leaving behind the bus.

No doctor was available at the Umerkot Taluka Hospital when the injured were taken there and Shiv Dev, Amrat and Wanood had to be shifted to the LUMHS Hospital, Hyderabad, because of their critical condition.

A large number of people took out a procession in Umerkot town on Sunday to protest against the absence of doctors at the taluka hospital when the bodies and the people injured in Saturday night’s accident were brought there.

Carrying banners and placards, and raising slogans against the medical superintendent of the hospital, the protesters marched on the main roads of the town.

They demanded the government should take action against the hospital authorities for their negligence in duty and ensure the presence of doctors at the hospital round-the-clock.
