KARACHI, Feb 12: Pakistan's bridge player Sarfraz Ahmed Khan is doing well on the English bridge circuit in London, according to information received on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Sarfraz Khan from Karachi, pairing with a local player finished fifth among the 194 pairs from United Kingdom and Europe featuring in British nationals recently.

He partnered top Irish international Tommy Garvey and English pair of Colin Simpson and David Price in England.

Sarfraz, who recently featured in Pakistan national bridge trials for Allana is the lone player to play in England.

Prior to his departure, Sarfraz said playing in England is helping him to raise his game and earn his livelihood. He said besides playing in England, he also served as tutor.

Highly talented Sarfraz was the member of Pakistan's Allana team which reached the quarterfinal of World Bridge Olympiad in Istanbul (Turkey) last November. That was Pakistan's best performance at the international level in 20 years.

He said despite limited numbers of teams and players in Pakistan, bridge got a good future for the sport.

Sarfraz, who also served as tutor for Pakistan Bridge University said launching of the PBU will help in grooming and training of young players.-APP
