GUJRANWALA, Feb 12: The Railways and the Punjab police will jointly patrol the rail track to avert any sabotage and terrorism during Muharram.

This was said by Inspector General (railways) Chaudhry Ahmad Nasim while talking to Dawn here on Saturday.

He said that he had sought the help of the Punjab police following a meeting with the IGP.

He said being a sensitive district, Gujranwala had been divided into three main and 16 sub-sectors.

He said the police officials would patrol on foot round the clock in shifts and report to the respective station master before start and end of patrolling. Mr Nasim said railways senior police officers would monitor the patrolling.

Three main sectors are: From Sadhoki to Upper Chenab River bridge, Wazirabad to Sodara and Wazirabad to Gajer Gola railway stations. These sectors have been divided into 16 sub-sectors.
