Dogar made acting CEC

ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui on Wednesday nominated Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Judge of the Supreme Court, Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The post of the CEC fell vacant after the retirement of CEC Irshad Hasan Khan on Jan 15. Justice Irshad Khan was named the chief election commissioner after his retirement as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 2001.

Election Commission Secretary Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad confirmed to Dawn that he had been directed by the chief justice and the same directive had been immediately forwarded to Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs for necessary notification.
