PESHAWAR: Heavy snowfall in Shangla

PESHAWAR, Feb 9: Heavy snowfall in the mountainous Shangla district over the past couple of days has paralyzed the region and all main and link roads in the district have been closed.

The mountains are covered with over five feet of snow. People are restricted to their homes due to continuous snowfall. Two mud-houses in Olander village in Tehsil Kana collapsed. However, no report of loss of life was received.

The Silk route has been closed at two points, Dobair and Pattan, in district Kohistan due to landslides while the Swat-Bisham road is closed at Shangla top due to snowfall.

The Shangla-Puran road is closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic at Yak Tangay area while Puran-Martung, Puran-Chogard Road, Puran-Cheksar road, Ghourband and Bisham katccha link roads are also blocked due to landslides.-APP
