ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Hamid Nasir Chattha has said any solution to the Kashmir issue without taking the Kashmiris into confidence will not be long- lasting.

He was talking to a delegation of Muslim Conference, UK wing, here on Sunday. The delegation headed by member AJK Legislative Assembly for oversees Kashmiris Chaudhry Mohammad Khan consisted of Majid Qureshi, Mohammad Masroof Khan and Sardar Abdul Wajid bin Arif.

Mr Chattha said Kashmiris were struggling for their fundamental right of self-determination, and reiterated that Pakistan would never withdraw from its principled stand on the issue.

He said Pakistan had showed a lot of flexibility on the issue while the Indian government was, as usual, not giving any positive answer to the initiatives.

Pakistan wants a political solution to the issue and the Kashmiris must be given their rights according to their own wishes, he added.

He urged the UN to establish a special commission on Kashmir so that it could visit the held area to see human rights violations being committed by India.

Mr Chattha said overseas Kashmiris could play an important role in highlighting the issue at the international level.

Chaudhry Mohammad Khan lauded President Pervez Musharraf's policies on Kashmir and said Kashmir had become a flashpoint and world powers, including US and the UK, were now determined to resolve the issue.-PPI
