KARACHI, Jan 8: The body of a six-year-old boy, who had been kidnapped on Jan 1, was found on Saturday in a room of the house of his uncle, the police said.

Mohammad Raees, a junk dealer, reported to the police and the CPLC that his son Mohammad Siddique had been kidnapped and a call was received demanding Rs1.5 million in ransom.

The CPLC said that while the deal was being struck at Rs500,000, the anonymous caller was traced and arrested. The kidnapper turned out to be a maternal uncle of the child. He was identified as Mohammad Tariq, brother-in-law of Mohammad Raees.

After his arrest, Tariq led the police and the CPLC to his house in Korangi, where he had killed the boy. He told the police that he had killed him as the child had recognized him. "I was afraid of being arrested so that I killed the child," the police quoted him as saying.

ACCIDENT: A man died and a friend of his was injured in a road traffic accident in Saeedabad on Saturday.

Police said Aijaz Hussain, 27, and his friend Ilyas were on a motorcycle when they were hit from the rear by a dumper. As a result, Aijaz died on the spot and Ilyas was injured.
