KARAK, Dec 4: People are facing difficulties in getting child registration certificates from the National Database and Registration Authority here as the computer network develops faults frequently, Dawn has learnt.

The local Nadra swift registration centre accepts applications for the certificates for two hours in the second shift on Tuesdays and Fridays.

"People who come from far off villages to get the certificates often face problems as they are told after waiting for a long time that the secured computer network could not transfer data to the headquarters in Islamabad," said Arshad Iqbal, a resident of Sarki village.

"This is the third time during the past two weeks that the network has broken down and we have been told to come on the next scheduled day," he said.

Shafiqullah, a resident of Tabbikhwa village, complained that he failed to submit an application for a certificate last week because of the network problem. "It would have been better if Nadra had fixed some time in the morning for the certificates," he said.

"We will come on Tuesday but we are not sure if the computer system will work properly on that day," said other applicants.

A system supervisor at the centre said the staff faced problems in transferring data and get feedback from the head office due to fault in the telephone lines. "We log on to the Nadra network for only two hours on Tuesdays and Fridays to transfer the data, but today we cannot receive the feedback," he said.
