SWABI, Nov 18: At least 12 cabins were gutted when a fire broke out in the main bazaar of the Tordher area. The president of the Anjuman-i-Dokandaran said on Thursday that the cause of the fire was not known.

He said the fire brigade had been stationed in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate and before its arrival all the valuables had turned into ashes. He said all the cabins were full of merchandize. He claimed that the loss in the fire amounted to Rs10 million.

POLICE RAID: A retired policeman complained on Thursday that a police party destroyed valuables and took away cash other items during a raid on his house on Wednesday.

Ajab Khan, a retired police constable, said at a press conference that SHO Fayaz Khan and Kalabat police station's official in charge Qaiser Khan led the raiding party that, he alleged, also insulted women and resorted to aerial firing. He appealed to the NWFP chief minister and inspector-general of police to order an inquiry into the incident.
