One killed in Thai blast

BANGKOK, Nov 13: A bomb blast killed another Buddhist in largely Muslim southern Thailand on Saturday and a policeman was shot as Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra promised to use a mix of peaceful means and force to resolve the crisis.

"We really wished to solve the problems by peaceful means. But some people have still used violent ways, so we have to use both ways," Thaksin said in his weekly radio address as Buddhists appeared to be targeted for assassination in the restive region.

Provincial governors in south would consult community leaders, including Muslim leaders, on what to do, he said.

"Provincial governors will be discussing with community leaders how to solve the problems," Thaksin said.-Reuters
