KARACHI, Nov 11: The Sindh government is considering to issue an ordinance to empower a pious man for resolving disputes in the rural areas of the province. The ordinance is expected to be issued sometime next year.

The new ordinance will not be affected by any decision of high court.

It may be mentioned here that the Sindh High Court has already declared the jirga system in the province as illegal. The proposed ordinance, however, will be above all court decisions.

Under section three of the proposed ordinance, a pious individual has been defined as the man who is respected by local people of his area, the people reposed trust in him, and he would be nominated by all the parties involved in the dispute to be resolved by him.-PPI
