MUZAFFARABAD, June 3: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Union of Journalists held a rally here on Monday to protest unabated incidents of violence against newsmen in the held Kashmir.

Protestors particularly condemned the recent attack on a sub-editor of the daily Kashmir Images, Zafar Iqbal, by three unidentified men last week, in his office in Srinagar.

Around 24 journalists spared time, despite their engagements in the wake of mounting tension along the Line of Control, to also express solidarity with the mediamen performing duties in tough conditions in the occupied valley.

The journalists in the occupied Kashmir frequently become the victim of violence, and since 1990 over six newsmen, working with independent media organizations, have been killed and as many injured, reports our staff correspondent.
