PESHAWAR, June 3: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has urged politicians to rise above their petty differences and personal interests and demonstrate statesmanship for the unity of the nation and defence of the country.

Speaking at a public meeting in Upper Dir district on Monday, he said the security of the country demanded extraordinary wisdom and farsightedness from all of its citizens, especially the political leadership.

He said it was a matter of concern that the leadership of certain political parties was still adamant on their interests. This was the time that people got united to show to the enemy that Pakistani nation was not something to be taken on easily, he said.

The governor announced the upgradation of tehsil headquarters hospital, Dir, to the status of B-category. He directed the concerned officials to start work on the project immediately.

ADVICE: The governor advised the students to pay attention to their studies to keep themselves abreast of the latest development in the field of education.

At a function at the District Council Public School at Dir Khas, he said: “Today’s children are the future’s leaders, and they must be prepared and brought up to shoulder such onerous responsibilities.”

He urged both parents and teachers to realize their responsibilities in this regard.

FOUNDATION-STONE: The governor laid the foundation-stone for the construction of district council hall on Chitral Road at Upper Dir.

He directed the concerned authorities to carry out the project in phases and added that the hall must be completed on a priority basis.
