HYDERABAD, June 3: The recovery Mukhtiarkar/officer (operation), circle-I of Hesco, Syed Zaman Shah, has given all the defaulters 15 days to clear their dues.
A notice issued in this regard said that the defaulters in circle-I — comprising Hyderabad city (except Phuleli area), Tando Jam, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Digri, Kunri, Naukot, Samaro, Umerkot and Juddho — had failed to pay their dues despite notices and reminders issued to them under the Land Revenue Act 1967.
After the expiry of the 15-day notice, he said, action under the Act would be taken against the defaulters.
DATE EXTENDED: The district and session judge, Hyderabad, who is also the chairperson of selection panel for the appointment of independent members of district public safety commission, Hyderabad, has announced that the date of submitting applications for independent female member has been extended up to June 5.
PERFORMANCE: The Hyderabad region police arrested a number of absconders and criminals with arms and ammunition during the ongoing campaign.
Six absconders were arrested by Hyderabad police, one criminal was arrested with pistol and two cartridges by Thatta police, two absconders and as may criminals with pistols and cartridges were arrested by Sanghar police and one criminal with pistol and three rounds was arrested by Mirpurkhas police.
SALARIES DEMANDED: The Government Secondary Teachers Association Sindh, Hyderabad district, at a meeting held here on Sunday lambasted the provincial accountant general, for withholding the salaries of the teachers.
Jan Muhammad I. Parhiar presided over the meeting.
The meeting observed that the district accounts office, Hyderabad, had refused payment of salaries to around 5,000 male and female teachers for the month of May under the directives from the accountant general.
The meeting pointed out that the education department always submitted the budgetary estimates for every year but the Sindh finance department reduced the budget by half.
It maintained that due to this anomaly, each and every school was running into deficit.
The association held the ministry of finance responsible for the situation. It described the AG’s move as ‘a conspiracy of the bureaucracy against the government with a view to creating unrest among the teachers.’
The meeting decided to apprise the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Islamabad, the Sindh governor and other relevant authorities about the serious situation.
It warned that if the teachers were not paid their salaries by June 6, GSTA would decide the future course of action at its meeting scheduled for the same day.
CIRCULAR: A circular, issued in Karachi by the accountant general, Sindh, stated: “In pursuance of the directives issued by the chairman, Public Accounts Committee, during the meeting held on April 20, henceforth no claim pertaining to pay and allowances may be admitted in this office/district account offices without the budget provision. The officer/official found neglecting the above instructions will be dealt with under the rules.”
