KARACHI, Oct 31: Defunct Sindh Road Transport Corporation Employees Action Committee members' hunger strike outside the Press Club entered its seventh day on Sunday.

Haji Ghulam Mohammed Depar, president of the committee, said nobody from the government side bothered to visit the strike camp to know the grievances of the affected workers.

He said the government should take a decision about the fate of 1,844 SRTC employees, so that they could happily celebrate the coming Eidul Fitr along with their families.

The workers demanded surplus amount comprising 15 per cent markup according to the Rule No6 of the agreement made between the government and the workers on Dec 6, 1999.

They demanded that the future of the affected workers be saved to provide relief to their families, which were almost starving due to the situation.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Food department's low-grade employees also vowed to continued their protest hunger strike on Sunday outside the Press Club till regularization of 490 watchmen.

Those participating in the strike included Ghulam Hasan, Abid Husain, Ganhwar Makrani and others.

They demanded that their problem be solved without further delay.

The Food Department Employees Federation has given a deadline till 25th of Ramazan to the authorities concerned for accepting their demands, warning that otherwise all the effected employees in the province will stage a sit-in in front of the Chief Minister's House. - PPI
