ANP to be invited to join ARD

Published October 31, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy has decided to invite the Awami National Party to join it before launching a movement against the government after Eid.

In a statement issued on Saturday, ARD Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim welcomed the call given by the ANP in its meeting in Peshawar to the political forces to join hands against the military dictatorship and launch a joint struggle for restoring the supremacy of the constitution and parliament.

Mr Fahim said the call was a welcome development and a step in the right direction to get rid of dictatorship.

He said an ARD delegation would soon call on the ANP leadership in the NWFP to invite the party to join the alliance and to jointly work out modalities for launching a struggle for ensuring the supremacy of parliament.
