GUJRANWALA, Oct 24: A raiding team of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Saturday caught various medical officers and paramedical staff red-handed while stealing gas for domestic purpose at Medical Colony, Wazirabad.

The team, led by SNGPL assistant sales officer Dil Muhammad Bhatti, inquired about the theft from medical superintendent Muhammad Akram Bagari who reportedly denied the charges and got a case registered against colony watchman Muhammad Hanif.

When contacted Mr Bagari claimed that the residents collected the bills' amount and later handed over to the watchman who failed to deposit the money with the treasury.

Reports said a number of residents had got illegal gas connections without installing meters. The SNGPL authorities were looking into the matter.

WATER THEFT: As many as 12 landlords of Naushera Virkan tehsil were caught red-handed by the irrigation raiding team while stealing canal water on Sunday.

Reports said landlords of Tetley, Keryal Kalan, Tung Kalan and Naushera Virkan villages breached the banks of the canal and were stealing water at night through pipes when the team, led by the irrigation SDO, caught them.

Police have registered a case on the report of the irrigation officer.

STABBED: A woman, mother of six children, was stabbed to death by a vagabond for refusing to develop relations in Aroop area on Sunday.

Rafiq Butt became infuriated on the refusal of 'Z' and attacked her with a knife in the absence of her husband. She died on the spot.
