PESHAWAR, Oct 18: The Provincial Police Officer (IGP), Mohammad Raffat Pasha, inaugurated a Model Reporting Centre at the Saddar Police Station in Kohat on Monday.

Senior officials of the Kohat Range were present at the opening ceremony, said a press release issued here on Monday.

The PPO (IGP) said that the main idea behind the establishment of the Reporting Centre was to provide police-friendly and tension-fee atmosphere to complainants for getting their FIRs registered.

He expressed the hope that it would not only bridge the gap between public and police but also discourage the "Thana culture."

The NWFP police chief said that police performance and dealing with complainants at the centre should also be exemplary and model one like its name and hoped that the newly- established reporting centre would help improve the image of the police among the public.

He directed the police officials to exhibit good behaviour with the complainants at the centre.

Mr Pasha said he would review the performance of these centres regularly and the centre which showed outstanding performance would be encouraged and those failed to come up to expectations would be taken to task.

The PPO also directed the Kohat police to provide foolproof security to the faithful at all worship places and enhance police patrolling during Iftar and Sehri times.
