EC officials told to update voter lists

PESHAWAR, Sept 11: Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan has called upon officials of the provincial election commission to upgrade voter lists and leave no one out of the electoral process.

A press release issued here on Saturday said that the CEC visited the commission's provincial office and urged officials concerned to redouble their efforts in this regard.

He said that an authentic voter list was vital for establishing the credibility, transparency and fairness of the election process. He said that efforts should be made to eliminate names of voters who had migrated to other places or had died and new voters be registered.

He said that the Federal Election Commission Academy was being established in Islamabad, where staff would be trained, adding that seminars and workshops would be organised by the academy where leaders of political parties would be invited to give their views about the electoral process.
