VEHARI, Sept 11: The police claimed to have recovered over 350 litres of liquor and arrested six manufacturers from various parts of the Vehari district during the last 24 hours.

The police on a tip-off raided Chak 407/EB Gagoo area, Chak 71/WB, 84/WB Mitro and Sadar areas of Mailsi and recovered liquor in huge quantity. The police also seized material used in manufacturing liquor and arrested outlaws Amin, Bashir Ahmed, Shafiq Khan, Basharat Ali, Nemat and Mukhtar Ahmed.

Cases have been registered.

RALLY: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Saturday took out a protest demonstration against the bombardment on Iraq and Afghanistan by the US.

Scores of MMA workers took part in the protest procession from all over the district. The protest started from Jamia Masjid Baghwali and ended at TMA Chowk. The protesters carrying banners and placards raised slogans against the US for its anti-Muslim policies around the world.

Speaking on the occasion, MMA leaders Abdul Khaliq Wattoo, Rao Khalil Ahmed, Tufail Warraich, Eng Muhammad Rafiq and Shakeel Ahmed Raza condemned the government for launching raids on madaris and killing of innocent people in the Waziristan operation.
