KARACHI, Aug 21: About a dozen of model parks are being developed in various towns of the city and Karachiites will get a model park every week. This was announced by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while inaugurating the model park , Bagh-i-Rizwan, in Block-14 of Federal B. Area on Friday night.

He said that another model park, being developed in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, would be inaugurated on Aug 27. Another park to be named as Damn-i-Koh on the pattern of Margalla Hills would be constructed in Karachi besides Bin Qasim Park would be developed as the National Park, he added.

Naimatullah Khan said that he had pledged to make the city beautiful when he came into power. "Today, we are very close to our goal," he said.

Referring to his briefing at Governor House for President Musharraf on Friday, he said that the president expressed satisfaction over the pace of development and said that Karachi would soon turn into a model city with continuity of this pace.

City Nazim pointed out that unlike past practices, it was for the first time that the number of contractors and consultants had fallen short while the development activity had gained pace.

He said that there would be a number of beautiful parks in 18 towns and 178 union councils within the next one year.
