PESHAWAR, Aug 14: Five Hindko books will be launched simultaneously here on Aug 15 for the first time in the literary history of the language.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the NWFP Chief Secretary Aijaz Ahmad Qureshi will be the chief guest while the Frontier Education Foundation Managing Director Syed Mazhar Ali Shah will preside over the function to be held at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 5pm.

Mohammad Ismail Awan, Sajjad Babar, Ahmad Nadeem Awan, Professor Khatir Ghaznavi and Professor Ashraf Bokhari will express their views about the books, published by the Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary-cum-cultural body, working for the preservation and promotion of the Hindko language and Hindkowan culture for the last 11 years.

The 130-page book of Hindko poetry - Turmey Turmey - is by Raza Hamadani.

Sina Shehar Tey Thandi Dhup is by Sahir Mustafai. Sabir Hussain Imdad has written the prologue of the 150-page poetry book, while Professor Dr Nazeer Tabassum has commented on the poetry of Sahir who is known as the mazdoor Sahir in the literary circles.

The 185-page book of Hindko poetry - Such Dey Deway - is by Sabir Hussain Imdad. Mohammad Ziauddin has written the prologue while a Hindko poet, Sabeeh Ahmad, has commented on the verses composed by the poet.

Husdey Gham is by Aslam Tariq. The prologue of the 155-page book of poetry has been written by Sabeeh Ahmad while Hussam Hur has commented on the poetry.

The Hindko translation of English classic poets - Daffodil See Motiay Tak - is by Malik Arshad Hussain. Sabeeh Ahmad has written the prologue of the 185-page book while Professor Alvin Edvin of the English Department, Edwardes College, Peshawar, Professor Mehfooz Jan Abid, a former chairman of the Department of English, Islamia College, Peshawar, and Professor Mohsin Ihsan, a former chairman of the Department of English, Islamia College, Peshawar, have commented on the work of the young Hindko poet and prose writer, Malik Arshad Hussain, who has done his masters in English literature from the University of Peshawar and is currently teaching the subject at a college.
