MIRPURKHAS, June 2: A group of labourers chased a three-men gang of kidnappers and forced their ring-leader to surrender in Lalchandabad here late Saturday. The gang had kidnapped the labourers’ contractor to deprive him of Rs100,000 he possessed.

Mr Arjun, a contractor of mango orchard, had left the vegetable market at Ring Road after collecting the money from a man, Sajid Mehmood, when Amir Memon and his two accomplices on bikes allegedly took him away at gunpoint.

The victim’s labourers chased Amir, who was holding Arjun hostage, until his bike drove into a house in Lalchandabad. After locking the house from outside, the labourers called police.

The SHO and personnel of the Town Police rushed to the scene and surrounded the house.

Fearing outrage by the labourers and police action, relatives of Amir Memon approached the police and assured them that the accused would be brought to police station later.

As the labourers and police turned away, Amir Memon gave himself up at the police station where an FIR was lodged by Hakmo Meghwar.

There were, however, no reports about the whereabouts of the hostage and his money till Sunday evening.
