BAHAWALPUR, July 31: Civil Lines police reportedly rounded up an activist of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi group here on Saturday. Police sources while confirming the arrest refused to give out his name adding that the arrested man was being interrogated.

The police had also arrested three activists of banned Jaish-i-Muhammad group on Friday in a raid. However, the police circles are still tight-lipped about their arrests.

It was learnt that there were intelligence reports that some fresh terrorist attacks were feared on imambargahs in Karachi. Since Bahawalpur and Khairpur Tamewali areas are known for such suspected students of Madaris, the police have become active here.

The law enforcing and intelligence agencies have with them lists of suspected students to nab them.

Meanwhile, the security has been tightened here since Friday night after the assassination attempt on the life of prime minister-designate Shaukat Aziz at Fatehjang.
