HYDERABAD, July 31: Elected representatives of two union councils in Kotri taluka on Friday protested against the inauguration of an incomplete water supply scheme by the federal minister, Liaquat Ali Jatoi.

Speaking at an hurriedly called news conference at the Hyderabad press club on Friday, UC Moohrro Jabal Nazim Shabbir Shah and Naib Nazim Riaz Lashari and UC Manzoorabad Nazim Dildar Khoso said no transformer or water motor had been installed so far to complete the scheme.

They alleged that neither nazims nor councillors of the UC had been invited to attend the inaugural ceremony.

They said the irony was that even District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar had not been informed about the inauguration of the water scheme.

They said the scheme had been approved by the district council and was funded by the Sindh government. They said the chief engineer, Dadu, wanted to earn some numbers through sycophancy and invited Mr Jatoi to inaugurate an incomplete.

They said an amount of Rs8.6 million had been sanctioned for the scheme which would go waste.

They said there was a great resentment among elected representatives as they had not been taken into confidence about the inauguration of the scheme which was proposed by the council.
