KASUR, July 17: Foreign Minister Mian Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri has assured the people that all uplift schemes announced by former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali will be completed.

He was speaking at a meeting held here on Saturday at the district nazim office.

The meeting was attended by district Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, DCO Muhammad Hashim Tareen, DPO Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar, district Naib Nazim Mian Sana Khaliq, SNGPL General-Manager Mujahid Anwer, tehsil nazims and others.

Giving the briefing, Rana Imtiaz Ahmed said the district government had launched different projects, including gas supply, construction of Rohi Nullah and water supply schemes.

He demanded that a friendly bus service should be started from the Ganda Singh border.

"This step will strengthen the economy of the country and boost trade between Pakistan and India."

The SNGPL general-manager informed the meeting that the first phase of the Rs230 million gas project had been accomplished and the laying of pipelines in the areas would be completed by the year-end.

He said the federal government had provided Rs30 million for the provision of gas to Chunian tehsil and survey work for gas supply to Khuddian had also been accomplished.

Mr Kasuri assured the people that electricity would be provided to border areas.

At the end of his visit, he inaugurated the newly completed roads at Bakapur, Jajal and Taragarh.
