ISLAMABAD, July 17: Salaried class is not required to file tax return forms because the information passed on by their employers will be sufficient.

This was stated by the member income tax, Central Board of Revenue (CBR), Sultan Nabi, in a Pakistan Television programme on Saturday.

The CBR, he said, was committed to simplify the tax collection system in the country and a lot of steps had been taken in this regard.

The department had set up a helpline with positive feedback, he said, adding that hundreds of tax payers got information through it daily.

He said people could contact the department during office hours by telephone on Universal Access Numbers # 111-227-227 and 111-227-228.

The department has also published brochures containing information about business, property, salary and charity income tax are being distributed through trade associations and chambers.

Answering a viewer's question,the member income tax said the collection of withholding tax on electricity bills was for taxpayers' relief, and explained that an affordable amount collected monthly through this method was adjustable in both ways at the end of the year.-APP
