PESHAWAR, Oct 29: The city  district  council on Monday approved Rs 1.48 billion budget for the year 2001-02.

The budget session was held at Archives Hall Peshawar, with convener Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khalil in the chair. District Nazim, Azam Afridi, was also present. The council passed the budget unanimously after some councillors withdrew their cut motions.

The city district government allocated Rs 70 million for development schemes and Rs 944 million have been earmarked for non-development expenditures.

TOWN 1:The Nazim of Town-1 Peshawar, Haroon Bilour will present the budget for the year 2001-02 at the Town Hall of the former Municipal Corporation building on Tuesday. The convener Town- 1, Haji Shaukat Ali will preside over the proceedings. The city district government will transfer Rs 22,717,614 to Town-1 for the current financial year.
