KARACHI, July 10: Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday morning called on Pir Pagara at his residence. Mr Aziz is contesting from two National Assembly constituencies in Attock and Tharparkar.

During the meeting, which lasted less than an hour, Pir Pagara assured Mr Aziz of his full support and said not only his blessings were with him but he would also campaign for him.

The prime minister-designate expressed gratitude to him for extending support.

Talking to journalists, Mr Aziz said he had gone to Pir Sahib to pay his respects and seek his blessings and guidance. "Pir Pagara enjoys an important position in the Muslim League," he said.

Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, talking to journalists, said he was not in favour of both offices of Sindh PML president and secretary-general going to the now defunct National Alliance.

Mr Rahim endorsed the stand of Pir Pagara regarding nomination of provincial PML office-bearers.
