RAWALPINDI, June 1: Vice Chief of Army Staff Gen Muhammad Yusaf Khan has asked the army officers and jawans to maintain constant vigil to guard against any aggression.

“Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. You must maintain constant vigil and make full preparations to fight the coming battles,” he said, while speaking to troops during his day-long visit to the forward positions in Northern Areas on Saturday.

On his arrival, commanders in charge of different positions apprised him of the prevailing situation and increasing tension in the region.

Gen Khan, who was accompanied by Corps Commander Lt-Gen Syed Arif Hassan, lauded the preparedness, commitment and high morale of the troops.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Village Defence Committee met the vice chief of army staff and told him that they were aware of the emerging threat and were fully prepared and organized to take part in all army operations.

Appreciating their patriotism, Gen Khan said: “I greatly value your resolve, motivation and the pledge to fight along with the regular forces. I am indeed proud of you. Insha Allah, we will work, hand in hand, for the defence of the country.”—APP
