KARACHI, June 26: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, who is also the chairman of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, on Saturday cancelled the transfer orders of 140 employees of KWSB on humanitarian grounds.

The nazim was earlier requested by the KWSB employees, who were working at Gharo, Chalya, Dhabeji, Pipri, Damloti and North East Karachi pumping stations and in various towns of the city, to cancel their transfer orders on the plea that they were facing financial and transport problems to carry out their duties in far off areas.

City Nazim considered their request on humanitarian grounds and cancelled the transfer orders.

PLAYGROUND: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, on Saturday, laid the foundation of a park and playground in North Nazimabad's Block-F.

The project envisages the construction of football and hockey grounds and other development schemes at a cost of Rs8.8 million.

The nazim said that the city government was preparing schemes for the development of parks and playgrounds on priority basis so that the citizens could feel a happy change. He said that the development of parks would help reduce environmental pollution and provide recreational facilities to people.

Advising the area youth to take part in sports activities, he said that hockey and football grounds in North Nazimabad Town would help serve such purpose.

He said, "Hockey is our national game and our players in this game have earn international fame."

In football, he asserted that there was need to take steps at city and national levels.

The city government would not allow anyone to encroach upon playgrounds, he added.-PPI/APP
