Atif strikes gold

LAHORE, June 25: Atif Shafiq Bhatti took the glory when he struck gold thrice and helped Agriculture University Faisalabad (AUF) emerge leaders on the opening day of the two-day Pakistan Inter-varsity swimming championship with 49 points at the Model Town Club pool on Friday.

Atif claimed golds in 400m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle. The other gold winners were Agha Shah Mir of NED University, Karachi, in 200m breaststroke and Farhan Ahmad Irfan of LUMS in 200m backstroke.

The NED University Karachi are in second place, three points behind the leaders with 46 points while LUMS were at the third with 39 points.

Nine more events will be held on Saturday, starting at 9am.
