Fahim sees more changes

LAHORE, June 8: ARD chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said the resignation of Ali Muhammad Mehr as Sindh Chief Minister will lead to more changes and ultimately bring down the entire set-up.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, he asserted the Sindh situation was the outcome of what he called the wrong policy adopted after elections by the present government. A party having majority's support in Sindh should have been allowed to form the government, he said.

The ARD chief said if the minority was converted into majority through artificial means, the situation would not normalize. In response to a question, Mr Fahim said President Pervez Musharraf should know who enjoyed majority's support in Sindh.

He warned that the system would not stabilize as long as agencies continued their interfere in political matters. In his opinion nobody was in a position to replace Mr Mehr. He claimed Mr Mehr was pressured to tender resignation and any other report was untrue.

Meanwhile, ARD leaders Mansoor Khan, Inamullah Khan Niazi, Munir Gilani, Rana Nazrur Rehman and others said at a news conference that the Sindh chief minister was made a scapegoat. They said the process of change would also affect the federal government.
