QUETTA, May 8: An earthquake of medium intensity hit the city of Quetta and its adjoining areas in the early hours of Sunday, Met offices reported.
The quake which struck the valley at 01.11am lasted for 25 to 40 seconds and shook the town forcing the people out of their homes. Windowpanes and households rattled injuring many.
There were no immediate reports of fatal casualties from the quake but hospital had by 0130am admitted seven injured persons.
Director of the Quetta observatory Ziauddin said the quake was recorded at 4.7 on the open Richter scale with epicentre somewhere near Quetta. No reports of further damage to property or life had been reported till the filing of this report.
