KARACHI, April 24: About 230 students belonging to faculties of arts, science and commerce were awarded bachelors and masters degrees in 7th convocation of Defence Authority Degree College for Women here on Saturday. Senate chairman Mohammedmian Soomro was the chief guest.

Underlining the significance of education for women, the Senate chairman said that educated and enlightened women could play a major role in bringing quality and improvement in all spheres of life.

He appreciated the phenomenal contribution of Pakistani women in all fields of national spheres which was constantly increasing since last four years.

Earlier, the principal of the College Tayyaba Mamoon, in her welcome address, outlined the outstanding achievements of the college in academic and other co- curricular activities and said that all programmes of activity in the institution were directed at development of intellectual, moral and physical faculties of students to make them dynamic and good citizens of future.

Later, the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Prof. Dr Pirzada Qasim, conferred degrees on the graduating students of year 2001 and 2002 sessions.

Administrator DHA Brig Maqsood Hussain and a large number of parents of graduating students attended the convocation.-APP
