FAISALABAD, June 1: The Pakistan People’s Party has not yet made any electoral alliance with any political party.

This was stated by Punjab PPP secretary-general Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan while talking to newsmen here on Saturday. He said a decision in this regard would be taken by the central executive committee of the PPP.

He said the PPP would nominate its candidates for all constituencies of provincial and national assemblies. The decision to adjust some seats would also be decided by the party high command.

He said computerised election cells would be set up at all divisional headquarters of the party to review election arrangements and providing information to workers and leaders about party’s election policy.

He hoped the PPP would give a crushing defeat in the general elections to the party claiming massive support of the masses.

He said Ms Benazir Bhutto would reach Pakistan and contest the elections from her native town. However, the date and station of her arrival had not yet been finalized.

The PPP leader demanded President Musharraf to form an interim government for holding elections.

ARRESTED: Police arrested 18 shopkeepers and prize bond dealers from various parts of the city on Friday night for selling lottery tickets.

All the arrested persons have been sent to jail.

SUICIDE: A girl committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Chak 54-JB here on Saturday.

Bashiran Bibi, 24, took poison following an altercation with her family over a domes.
