BAHAWALPUR, April 17: There will be no change in the mode of auction of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi's Rolls Royce cars and other articles recovered from the Sadiqgarh palace, as these would be auctioned among only the members of the family.

The committee working on the project has already fixed April 25 for the auction of the left-overs and cars.

The decision to stick to the earlier plan was taken at a meeting presided over by the distribution committee chairman, Justice Abdul Qadeer Chaudhry (retired), at the circuit house on Saturday.

He told Dawn after the meeting that the auction of the Rolls Royce cars would be carried out in accordance with his earlier decision and only members of the family could participate in the auction.

He said none of the legal heirs of the Nawab was willing to donate the historic books of the Sadiqgarh palace library.

He said encroachments on the property, as pointed out by the revenue staff or claimants of land, would be removed. EDO (revenue) Abdul Ghafoor Bhatti, the chairman of the subcommittee, would issue notice to such persons.

It is learnt that the committee had also decided to distribute about Rs5.5 million, deposited with Safron, from the income of the late Nawab's property among his legal heirs and descendants.

STAGE PLAYS: The Bahawalpur Arts Council's vigilance committee at its meeting here on Saturday decided to curb the trend of obscenity in stage plays.

The committee, which met under the chair of EDO (community development) Ehsan Ahmad, said the producers would be taken to task for deviation from the approved scripts.
