SHEIKHUPURA, April 17: A complete strike was observed in Muridke and adjoining Daoke village to protest the gory incident in which a psychopath had slaughtered a seven-year-old boy on Friday.

The funeral prayers of the deceased boy were offered in Daoke village amid tight security on Saturday.

The district police besieged the entire Muridke town particularly the locality where the incident took place. The Elite Force squads and police contingents continued patrolling the affected areas to maintain law and order.

Owing to tight security measures taken by the administration, the area people did not venture to take out any protest rally or demonstration.

The fright crept up on the people of Daoke village due to the occurrence of two gory incidents in their area.

An elderly man, Allah Ditta, said the people were under great stress and were feeling insecure because they feared that such incidents could take place again.

He demanded that a police check post in Daoke village should be set up to watch the activities of criminals.

Meanwhile, SP Rai Tahir said the police had taken all necessary measures to avoid any untoward incident in future.

The funeral prayers of Riaz Sheikh, who died in an exchange of fire between protesters and the police on Friday, were also offered on Saturday in Muridke amid tight security.
