LAHORE, April 10: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Saturday said FIFA's Goal Project in Lahore would neither have a football field nor a practice ground.

"There will be no main football field or practice ground. The Punjab Stadium Ground, adjacent to the Goal Project, will be used for the activities of the players," said president PFF Faisal Saleh Hayat.

The facilities for $400,000 Goal Project will be constructed at Nishtar Park opposite to newly-built Punjab Stadium.

Faisal, who met with the Goal Project director Manilal Fernando here on Saturday to get the approval of the revised construction plan, said the facilities would now be spread on 33,000 square feet. Previously, it was to be constructed on 19,000 square feet.

Asked why the area of construction had been increased, the PFF chief said it would provide more facilities to the players.

He said the construction work would start from first week of June and the project would be completed before the end of the year.

The PFF official said besides FIFA's funding, the PFF had also arranged an amount of $100,000 for the project.

FIFA had sanctioned the amount for the project in 2002, but the work did not start as PFF failed to secure a piece of land. PFF eventually acquired the land in January.

The PFF chief said Pakistan's performance at the SAF Games would help PFF generate funds. He said PFF wanted to generate Rs40million through sponsorship.

About the national league, he said it would start before the end of this month.

He said India and Bangladesh would tour Pakistan. The dates and venues would be decided later, he said.
