RAWALPINDI, April 10: The Punjab government has asked the District Bar Association (DBA) to prepare a feasibility report for establishing a women's bar and solving problems at the district courts building.

This was stated by minister for local bodies and parliamentary affairs Mohammed Basharat Raja while speaking to the members of the DBA here on Saturday.

Mr Raja said the government would finance the project. He said the project should also comprise proposals for solving parking, chambers, court rooms and cleanliness related issues at the district courts.

He said the new judicial complex would be established soon to solve problems faced by the lawyers' community due to unavailability of facilities on the district courts premises.

The minister gave a cheque for Rs0.5 million to the DBA president for initiating some development works. He said an annual development grant of Rs1 million and Rs0.3 million would be provided to the district and tehsil bars, respectively, during the next financial year.

He said the government had implemented a record number of development projects since its inception. A plan for implementing small development projects in the province has also been chalked out. The implementation period for these projects would not extend beyond three months, he added.
