MNA says govt harassing him

Published April 4, 2004

FAISALABAD, April 3: PML-N MNA Rana Asif Tauseef has accused the government of harassing him in a bid to make him shift his loyalties.

At a news conference here, the MNA alleged that a brick-attack on him enroute to Islamabad on March 29 was part of a conspiracy hatched by government agencies to force him to give up his loyalty to Nawaz Sharif. He said two unknown persons threw bricks on his vehicle near the Bhaira Interchange on the Motorway smashing the window-screen.

He was barely able to control the vehicle. The accused fled from the scene on a van. A case was registered by police only after he filed a privilege motion with the National Assembly, he said. The MNA further alleged that some unknown person had threatened him with dire consequences on phone a couple of weeks ago.
