HYDERABAD, March 20: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has directed the EDO works and communication that development schemes proposed by Nazims of union councils up to the cost of Rs1.3 million be approved from the district development working party by March 25.

This he said while presiding over a meeting regarding development schemes of Tando Allahyar taluka here on Friday.

He directed the officers concerned to issue the gallop tenders soon after schemes were approved by the DDWP and ensure the completion of schemes by the end of current financial year. The Nazim said negligence of contractors or officers concerned would not be tolerated at any cost.

Referring to the demand raised by Taluka Nazim Tando Allahyar, Abid Yousuf Bachani, the district Nazim assured that the scheme of girls' degree college, Tando Allahyar would be included in the next ADP 2004-05.

He asked the taluka Nazim to prepare integrated planning and feasibility reports for streamlining the drainage and water supply of the town.

Mr Makhdoom asked the taluka Nazim to give the detailed report about the development schemes of the union councils whose Nazims were not available in the meeting.

He directed the officials to speed up the development works and ensure that schemes were completed by the end of current financial year.

He inquired from Nazims of the union councils about the development works in their jurisdictions.

EDO Works and Communication Habib Memon informed the meeting that 32 development schemes of the ADP 2003-04 were taken into hand at the cost of Rs50.1796 million out of which three schemes had been completed, while work on 29 schemes was in progress.

He said Rs31.5750 million were allocated against these schemes for the financial year 2003-04 and about Rs24 million had been utilized till date.

He said the over all performance of development work of this taluka was more than 72 per cent and assured that the remaining amount would be utilized in the stipulated period.

Mr Makhdoom informed that nine schemes of roads at the costof Rs9.8074 million, three schemes of sewerage at the cost of Rs2.835 million, five schemes of water supply at the cost of Rs1.0107 million were also initiated in Tando Allahyar taluka under the KPP-IV.

The district Nazim while responding to the complaints made by Nazims of union councils directed the DDOs to ensure their accessibility and coordination with the Nazims of the union councils to resolve their problems.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of all the assistant district officers on Saturday. She warned that if any teacher, men or women, who had been assigned election duties remained absent, strict action would be taken against him/her.
